Within the business we are able to call on centuries of accumulated roofing know how to provide our customers with a first class roofing service.

Simon Emerton
Our Managing Director, Simon Emerton FIoR, started working for the family business in the summer of 1980 as a 17-year-old apprentice. Simon spent his first years with the company assisting experienced slating and tiling operatives before starting official training at the CITB Birmingham training centre in 1982. Following qualification, Simon persevered on the tools for a number of years before becoming recognised as a NFRC ‘Heritage Roof Master’.
In the late 80s, Simon stepped up into a management role, taking responsibility for the day to day running of company projects. After the turn of the century and father Gerald’s subsequent retirement, Simon was appointed to the role of Managing Director, the role in which he fulfils today.
Jon Salisbury
Contracts manager Jon Salisbury is a valued member of our team and can count on 22 years of experience within our business.
Born and bred in neighbouring Shropshire, ‘Jon’ left school in 1988 to begin a 5 year building apprenticeship with a local family building company where he achieved HNC building qualification. Here, Jon gained in depth building knowledge, playing lead roles in both commercial and domestic restorations/facility management.
Since joining Emerton Roofing in 1995, Jon has been instrumental in the management of thousands of small to large projects, including many listed buildings and domestic properties.
In his spare time, Jon is a keen ‘Crown Green Bowls’ player and enjoys a Sunday morning on his local golf course. As well as spending time with friends and family, Jon revels in the challenge a new project brings and creating ultimate client satisfaction.
William Emerton
After a series of summer holiday’s working within the family business, ‘Will’ officially joined the company in September 2013. A three-year apprenticeship ensued, combining on site work with Level 2 and 3 Roofing qualifications at Bolton and Leeds College of Building respectively. During this time, Will competed in national ‘Skillbuild’ apprentice championships in which he was awarded the gold medal. As a result, Will was asked by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors to represent the United Kingdom, in the Young Roofer World Championships in Latvia – where his team were awarded the ‘President’s Prize’.
Following his apprenticeship, Will worked on a number of slating and tiling projects for the company, before being promoted to his current role of ‘Contracts Manager’. Will has real passion for his trade and is proud to follow in the footsteps of his dad and grandfather.
Outside of work Will enjoys playing Sunday league football and supporting his local team Crewe Alex. Will also revels in renovating his cottage as well as spending time with friends, family and wife Ellie.
Andrew Emerton
Andrew became a sixth-generation roofer when he joined the family business in September 2013. Andrew spent his first three years as an official apprentice, studying levels two and three ‘Roof Slating and Tiling’ at Bolton and Leeds College of Building (LCB). During this time Andrew competed in the national ‘Skillbuild’ competition where he was awarded the bronze medal (aged 18).
After completing his apprenticeship, Andrew became a leading tradesman within the company, completing several high profile projects, including the award winning ‘Octagonal Tower’. Six years on, Andrew has now been promoted to his current role of ‘Contracts Manager’.
Andrew says he wishes to keep traditional roofing and the use of heritage materials thriving, as well as playing part in maintaining the reputation of roofing as a ‘top trade’. Outside of work Andrew enjoys supporting Crewe Alex, his role in ‘Nantwich Young Farmers’ club and spending time with girlfriend Catherine.
Jayne Evans
After a successful career as an accounts manager, Emerton Roofing were fortunate to obtain the services of Jayne in 2016. Jayne’s responsibilities include organising payroll, both the purchase and sales ledgers and banking. Jayne also looks after our ‘admin@’ email address and stands ready to direct enquiries today.
In her spare time, Jayne enjoys reading and watching movies with her husband Dave. In addition, Jayne is also the proud owner of two dogs ‘Sky’ and ‘Mig’ both of whom she loves spending time with.
Claire Salisbury
We were delighted when Claire Salisbury joined our team as administrator back in September 2012. Claire’s important role includes generation and organisation of project files as well as coordinating enquiries. Outside of work, Claire enjoys days out with husband Jon, spending time with family and partaking in a spot of retail therapy.
Steph Tucker
Operations Manager Steph joined our family business in November 2021. With a wealth of experience working and managing within the builder’s merchant sector, Steph’s excellent product knowledge allows key purchasing and organising of project materials within the business as well as taking care of training and health and safety matters. In her spare time, Steph excels as a ‘Crafting Queen’ as well as countless voluntary roles including running a local girl guide group. Steph also enjoys home life with husband Darren and her two beloved cats Tiger and Felix.
